Easy to Read Mini-Books & Mini-Plays on Science & Math for Kids

About the Author

Sheryl Ann Crawford never outgrew her love for children’s books. She’d rather throw away her favorite shoes (and a purse or two) than a children’s book!  Sheryl is the author of ten books for children and dozens of magazine stories, poems and rebuses.

Her latest book, Easy-to-Read Science Plays: The Human Body (grades 1-2) is published with Scholastic Teaching Resources. Because Sheryl is a Registered Nurse, teaching children about the amazing human body was a special joy to write!

Sheryl and her dear friend, and prolific author, Nancy I. Sanders, had a blast co-writing seven books on science and math for beginning readers (Scholastic Teaching Resources.)

Sheryl’s two picture books, Psalms for a Child’s Heart, and The Baby Who Changed the World, are published with Faithkidz.  Other publishers include Standard, Word, and Harcourt/Trophies. Sheryl’s story Kitten’s Climb is part of a reading assessment booklet (Harcourt/Trophies) and is used in schools throughout the United States.

Sheryl’s magazine stories have appeared in BabyBug, Highlights, Clubhouse Jr, and Discovery Years.

Sheryl enjoys participating in a critique group of eight published writers (Wordsmiths8), led by Nancy I. Sanders,
and enjoys teaching beginning writing classes at an occasional writer’s conference.

Sheryl writes articles for Jan Field’s kidmagwriter e-zine, and some of her blog posts are soon to appear on the Institute of Children’s Literature Website.

In her “spare” time Sheryl is a volunteer nurse for  the American Red Cross/Disaster Health Services, as well as the Medical Reserve Corp. She considers it a blessing to serve locally as a shelter nurse for victims of fires, floods, earthquakes, and other disasters.

Sheryl and her husband, Bob (a UCLA Bruin!), live in beautiful Santa Clarita, California. They have two grown sons, two granddaughters, and three rescued dog “children” who wear them out.
